Ofsted inspections will not return this academic year

Addressing plans for Ofsted inspections, Chief Inspector Amanda Spielman has stated that ‘inspections will resume next academic year’. While monitoring visits are currently the only form of inspection in schools, Ofsted are planning ‘sensible and proportionate’ steps before returning to normal full inspections.

The principles of the Education Inspection Framework introduced in 2019, are said to still stand as there is a key focus on curriculum as opposed to measured results. The Chief Inspector reiterated that there will be a need for the framework to be slightly adapted to ensure it is shaped in a way that acknowledges the current context and challenges of schools.
