Ofqual and DfE publish outcome of contingency arrangements consultation

The outcome of a joint consultation from the DfE and Ofqual on the contingency arrangements for exams and assessments in 2022 was published this week.

The results of the consultation found four overarching themes including the importance of clear and timely communication around contingency arrangements and the exam boards role in in teacher assessed grade (TAG) processes. A small proportion of respondents called for exams for go ahead irrespective of the circumstances.

Guidance has been published by the DfE for centres planning for exams and assessments in 2022. Boards are encouraged to read the guidance in order to support school leaders and staff.

A series of letters have also been published for heads of schools and collegesstudents and private candidates to inform them about the arrangements in 2022.
