The National Association of Headteachers (NAHT) have released a new report on what they describe as the ‘school leadership supply crisis’. The report argues that there is a worrying shortage of school staff aspiring to headship roles, citing evidence from a survey of school leaders. The report goes on to discuss the causes of this shortage and a series of recommendations. There are also reports of increasing numbers of headteachers who want to leave the profession or possibly retire early after getting their school through the COVID-19 period. Clearly this is a trend of concern.
