The aim of the strategy is to ensure that teaching continues to be an attractive and rewarding profession by tackling the most prominent concerns and professional obstacles faced by teachers and school leaders.
The strategy focuses on four priority areas:

- providing support for teachers early in their careers
- ensuring that teaching remains attractive throughout a practitioners career
- attracting more people into the profession of teaching by making it easier for the right people to become teacher
